High Cholesterol or "Cholesterol-phobia"

Which One is the Real Problem?

Consider these two facts:

1. Cholesterol is a natural, normal, necessary and essential part of every cell of your body.
2. "Cholesterol-phobia" may be a worse epidemic than "abnormal" blood serum cholesterol levels themselves.

Cholesterol is being constantly produced, utilized by the cells and eliminated. The body, of its own volition, never does anything to harm itself. Therefore, it wouldn't be making a substance that is qualitatively or quantitatively harmful. It doesn't know how.

If you are forced to focus on "high" cholesterol levels as a health risk factor and ignore other more ominous risks (pre-disposing free radical damage to the heart and blood vessels, for example), you could be manipulating numbers solely to "treat" symptoms and overlooking the underlying causative problems that demand attention.

"Cholesterol-phobia" may be a worse epidemic than "abnormal" blood serum cholesterol levels themselves. In fact, the anxiety and stress caused from the fear of the cholesterol being too high could cause an even greater elevation of the numbers. The role of cholesterol is to serve as a protector of the 60 to 100 trillion cells in the body.

When you understand the chemistry and mechanisms involved in this process you will develop a "healthy" regard for cholesterol and be relieved of the worry. You can then concentrate more on the priority of making a conscientious effort to build and strengthen the coronary vascular system.
